Transformative Healthcare Networks Initiative

The Transformative Healthcare Networks Initiative is headed by Director Anna Barker, former deputy director of the National Cancer Institute and co-director of the Complex Adaptive Systems Network at ASU. The initiative serves as a foundation for the development of new research models that leverage convergent knowledge, innovative teams and novel funding approaches to better prevent and treat acute and chronic diseases.

One effort recently launched by Professor Barker and a research collaborative at ASU is the National Biomarker Development Alliance, a non-profit organization designed to address the complex and urgent challenge of creating the standards needed to support end-to-end evidence-based biomarker development in order to significantly advance precision or personalized health care.

Powered by advanced genomic and other technologies, biomarker discovery has become a major focus for investigators working in nearly all areas of biomedical research.
