Science of Health Care Delivery

Science of Health Care Delivery

The Science of Health Care Delivery program at ASU's College of Health Solutions is the first of its kind in the country and represents the university's deliberate investment in future health care decision-makers, and focuses on developing a broad knowledge base for designing a better delivery system. Housed within the College of Health Solutions, the program prepares current and future healthcare workers to systematically address critical and complex needs of the health care system: 1) improving patient care experience, 2) enhancing the health of the population, and 3) reducing per capita healthcare costs while increasing health outcomes. This “Triple Aim” is addressed through interdisciplinary research and study of population health, patient-centered care, health economics, policy, data analytics, process engineering, and leadership.

SHCD High Value Care

The program has developed strong collaborative relationships with various industry partners including a unique and ground-breaking partnership with the Mayo Clinic. In the fall of 2015, the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine integrated 18 credits from ASU’s Science of Health Care Delivery graduate program into its curriculum. This additional training provides the foundational knowledge for future physicians to lead the systemic changes necessary to produce higher-value healthcare.

The program is linked as well with other industry leaders such as Banner Health, Barrow Neurological Institute, and Mountain Park Health Center through a capstone consulting project.
