ASU Healthcare Transformation Institute

Healthcare Transformation Institute

The Healthcare Transformation Institute (HTI) is a joint nonprofit venture of Arizona State University, the Chan Soon-Shiong Family Foundation, and the University of Arizona. The mission of the institute is to convert health care delivery from a "sickness model” to one of high-value services emphasizing health and wellness. The institute is lead by Denis Cortese (who is also the director of ASU's Healthcare Delivery and Policy Program and emeritus president and CEO of Mayo Clinic).

The institute collaborates with diverse partners to use new and different strategies, technologies and services to help health services organizations transform the way they provide patient care. They work to address all aspects of health service and pursue projects with "high-risk" patients that fall into "the 20 percent that drive 80 percent" of health care expenses. By focusing on these patients, efforts to improve health value have the greatest impact.
