The Center for Law, Science & Innovation (LSI) at ASU's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law is the first and largest academic center focused on the intersection of law with science and technology. Faculty work with students and research fellows to explore innovations in law and policy for a world of rapidly changing technologies, through leading-edge scholarship, education, and policy dialogue.
The center is led by Gary Marchant, Lincoln Professor of Emerging Technologies, and home to two programs with substantial health components: Governance of Emerging Technologies and the Public Health Law & Policy. Areas of research include regulatory, governance, legal, policy, social and ethical aspects of nanotechnology, synthetic biology, biotechnology, genomics, personalized medicine, stem cell and regenerative medicine, human enhancement technologies, geoengineering, and neuroscience. In addition to these core programs, the center facilitates a number of other projects in health care law, neuroscience and psychology.
